Engineered to outlast the elements.
Every NewTechWood board pairs a dense polyethylene-and-wood-fiber core with a 360° polymer cap — tested against stains, scratches, fade, and boiling water. Composite that looks like wood and behaves like a fortress.
We set out to reinvent wood-plastic composite — and did.
NewTechWood® engineered a board that delivers unmatched durability, beauty, and long-term performance. After years of innovation and rigorous field-testing, UltraShield® emerged: a fully capped, all-weather system that fuses high-density polyethylene and wood fibers beneath a protective polymer shell. The result is a board that resists fading, scratching, and the elements — built to stay beautiful for decades.
Two layers doing two jobs.
Co-Extruded Cap
An impenetrable outer layer that withstands staining, fading, scratching, cupping, swelling, mold, and mildew — fused to the core on all four sides during extrusion, so it can never peel or delaminate.
Composite Core
High-quality recycled materials with dense hardwood and softwood fibers give the board impressive strength, rigidity, and dimensional stability underfoot.
Five ways to cap a board. One that stays sealed.
“Capped composite” covers a wide range of construction. What separates them is how much of the board the cap actually reaches.
-
Uncapped
No outer layer at all.
First-generation composite leaves the core exposed on every face. It crumbles, fades, and scratches much like the wood it replaced.
-
Capped with wood powder
A cap that still contains wood.
The outer layer is mixed with wood powder, so organic material sits at the surface where weather reaches it — and behaves accordingly.
-
Capped on top only
Protected where you look.
Stains, scratches, and UV are handled on the walking surface. Moisture still enters from below, and the board cups and twists until the top layer cracks.
-
Capped, grooves routed after
Protected until it is cut.
Top and bottom are sealed, then the fastener grooves are machined through the cap — reopening the core exactly where hardware and water meet it.
-
Capped 360° NewTechWood
Every face, grooves included.
Top, bottom, sides, and grooves are all wrapped, so there is no untreated edge for moisture, UV, or pests to find. This is how every NewTechWood board is built.
One shell. A whole list of problems it ends.
Won’t fade
The cap locks in color against relentless UV, so boards hold their tone season after season.
Won’t stain
Spilled wine, grease, and sunscreen wipe clean off the sealed polymer surface.
Won’t scratch easily
A hardened outer shell shrugs off dragged furniture, paws, and patio traffic.
Won’t warp
A dense core stays dimensionally stable — no cupping, swelling, or splitting.
Won’t rot
Impervious to the moisture, insects, mold, and mildew that destroy real wood.
Tested to the extreme
Validated against staining, fade, scratching — even boiling water poured on the deck.
What the lab found.
Every claim on this page traces back to a bench test. These are the standards used and the numbers they produced.
Scratch resistance
FLTM BO 162-01
1 mm needle drawn under 8–20 N of pressure
No obvious mark at 20 N
Conventional decking marks at 8 N
Abrasion resistance
ASTM D4060
750 g load, 1,000 turns at 60 rpm; material loss weighed
23 mg lost
Conventional composite lost 81 mg
UV & color fastness
QUV accelerated weathering
QUV accelerated weathering chamber, 3,000 hours, recorded every 500
ΔE 2.72–3.75 after 3,000 hours
ΔE 0.65–1.25 at the 500-hour mark
Boiling water
90-hour submersion
Submerged at 100 °C and observed every two hours
No separation of cap from core
No cracking, no visible damage
Stain resistance
Comparative panel test
Black ink applied, partially wiped, then washed with water
Surface returns clean
Conventional decking holds the stain
Results are from NewTechWood’s comparative laboratory testing of UltraShield® against conventional composite decking. ΔE is the standard measure of color change — lower is better, and a difference below about 3 is hard for the eye to detect.
Protection you can stand on for 25 years.
360° UltraShield® cap
A co-extruded polymer shell wraps the board on every side — not just the top — for uninterrupted, all-weather protection.
25-year warranty
Decking, siding, fencing and railing carry a 25-year residential limited warranty. We can promise decades because the material is built to deliver them.
Made responsibly
Cores are built from high-density recycled polyethylene and reclaimed wood fiber — durable and sustainable.
